内容简介In investigations of used bricks in a cement rotary kiln, it was often observed that the CaO content in spinel brick decreased after use, particularly in bricks used in the transition zone of the kiln. This phenomenon has been reported in many literatures~(1-3)) in the past but there is seldom a paper explaining the relation between the decrease in CaO content and the changes in the texture of the brick. Generally bricks with decreased CaO content often exhibited embrittlement in the texture and it is possible to think therefore that the embrittlement of the texture is closely associated with the decrease in CaO content. The present paper reports the results of an investigation on the behaviors of the microstructure and grain boundary phase in bricks after use in a cement rotary kiln and the relation between these behaviors and changes in CaO content in the bricks.
