内容简介The Center to which the authors are attached has for a long time brought forward various actions to improve labor productivity, especially in the maintenance sectors that provide underlying support for the efficiency of continuous operations in steelmaking. In particular the Center has consistently been concerned with technology development and practical engineering applications of automated systems for the refractories maintenance work that is required for high quality steel and superior productivity under severe environments. In the case of developing automation technology for refractories maintenance work, our mechanical engineering researchers understood the maintenance work as a process consisting of a three-part cycle: (1) A "diagnosis" process that clarifies the degree of deterioration of refractories (2) a "dismantlement" process that removes the deteriorated part, and (3) the "repair" process that installs new refractories. To achieve the automated systems we are grappling squarely not only with mechanization of the maintenance work but also with process development and apparatus designs that exceed the traditional operations, and this is done in cooperation with refractories material researchers from a viewpoint of an integrated system of material and installation.
