Sheffield Forgemasters International Ltd is a major supplier to a number of different customers with important links to the power generation industry. From nuclear pressure vessels, turbine and generator shafts and hydro electric parts to oil rig structures, sub-sea components and wind turbine steels, virtually all stages of the power generation cycle are covered by our products. Such a comprehensive involvement means that it is important that we keep a watching brief on the industry. We need to forecast prices and supply constraints for our own electricity and gas usage and predict customer demand for our products over the next five to ten years. The following gives a brief insight into the prospects for power generation over the next ten years.
