Recently companies, educational institutions, public agencies and various other groups are committed to improving the Earth's environment amid the growing awareness of environmental issues. Environmental activities on a personal level are also being encouraged and increasing now. We often see such phrases as "environmentally-friendly temperature setting of air conditioning", "my eco-bag" and "driving at eco-speed", etc. on brochures of manufacturing companies and many other institutions. When you ride a bicycle, you can see how much you have contributed to the Earth's environment. Register with the "Eco-Cycle Mileage" operated by an NPO via the Internet, input the mileage and hours you rode your bicycle, and you will then get your CO_2 reduction amount in comparison with those if you had driven a car over the same distance. Ecology and Slow Life are popular words now and people are concerned about saving energy and reducing CO_2 emissions. Riding a bicycle is becoming popular again and young commuters using bicycles are on the increase.I live in Setagaya, Tokyo and enjoy cycling on my days off.
