内容简介Refractory products used in primitive metal making can be traced back for thousands of years. But the refractories industry as such was born in Great Britain with the industrial revolution in the early nineteenth century. Ever increasing amounts of fireclay refractories were supplied to the iron foundries and gasworks in the main European countries, followed by the establishment of companies in these countries too. Times have changed, numerous new products and applications have been created, and refractories have become more than ever essential for our modern way of life. Refractories cannot be substituted in high temperature applications, and without refractories there would be no materials industry. No steel, no glass, no cement, no aluminium, no building bricks, no porcelain, no cars, no trains, no electricity.
