内容简介Aluminum metal is currently used as an inhibitor" against explosive spalling in monolithic refractories such as castables. Hydrogen gas is generated by reaction of aluminum metal with water and various phenomena accompany the reaction such as the development of micro-cracks, variation in micro-pore distribution and augmentation of permeability. Consequently, because of the development of porosity during drying, the addition of aluminum metal contributes effective measures to enhance the explosive spalling resistance. This paper describes an investigation on the effects of the amount of aluminum metal addition on the physical properties of castables and also on the aluminum reactivity.
