Rotary cement kilns are a major contributor to environmental conservation by having characteristics that offer excellent and safe processing equipment for disposing of various industrial wastes, and to make practical use of low-grade raw materials and fuels in a closed system at high temperature, with little danger of an increase in secondary pollution. Therefore the disposed waste involves a diversity of types and the amount is increasing at an alarming rate. Associated with this increase in waste disposal, there is an increasing concentration of alkalies, chlorine, sulfur and other chemicals, and also the kiln atmosphere is more variable, so the use environment for the lining bricks is increasingly harsh, whereby the damage of the lining bricks and the steel shell are proceeding at an accelerating rate, and the formation of the protective coating on the hot face of the bricks has become more unstable.
