内容简介Flaking/spalling resistance is one of the properties that controls the durability of cast refractories in steel ladles. At present, because there is no clear explanation of flaking damage, no associated improvements have been achieved. In this work, which focused on the failure damage around cracks generated perpendicular to the working face, together with the effect of restraining forces, testing was carried out to investigate and delineate the flaking mechanism. In addition, non-linear FEM analysis was conducted and compared with the failure conditions after service in actual ladles.
