内容简介MgO-C bricks used in Basic Oxygen Furnaces (BOF) are required to resist the severe operating conditions in the production of high quality steel and the advancement of manufacturing efficiency, and at the same time bottom tuyere bricks, which have shorter service life, are expected to provide longer durability. The tuyere bricks, which are quite different from the wall lining bricks, experience an extreme temperature gradient due to the localized cooling effect of the bottom-blown gas and at the same time also suffer from chemical corrosion associated with the back-flow of molten steel, and therefore it is necessary for the material have a dense structure, to be resistant to both thermal shock spalling and abrasion. This paper offers comments on the effect of various additives in tuyere bricks to improve the spalling resistance to sudden temperature changes and the resistance to abrasion by molten steel.
