内容简介Alumina-magnesia castables are generally used for the impact pad in steel ladle bottoms, but there is a problem that peeling-off damage can initiate from cracks that form. The authors framed a hypothesis that the cracks are generated due to thermal shock damage. Then by focusing on the elasticity, which governs the thermal shock resistance, a trial castable was produced which differed from a conventional castable only in the elasticity, to evaluate the characteristics in actual service in a steel ladle bottom. The authors attempted to reveal the damage mechanism(s) from the relationship between the difference in elasticity and the durability.
