A method for evaluating the oxidation resistance of a sliding nozzle plate against oxygen in molten steel was investigated. The result shows the possibility that the resistance against roughening of the sliding nozzle plate can be estimated by evaluating the deteriorated layer caused by decarburization that forms on the part in a steel bath.
