内容简介At present, there are two major problems with insulating castables for aluminum and aluminum alloy melting furnaces. The first problem is the growth of adhesive material and the second is contamination of molten aluminum. With regard to the first problem, the adhesive material mainly consists of reaction products between aluminum metal and the refractories by the capillary infiltration of molten aluminum. Also it partly contains the products of aluminum metal oxidation by air or aluminum metal itself. This adhesive material decreases the available volume of the furnace and causes damage in the removal operation. It also causes nonmetallic inclusions in the molten metal. As for the second problem, contamination is caused by the mixing of metal components such as Si, Fe, Ti, and Na which are liberated by the reducing reaction of the refractory oxide by the molten aluminum. We have now developed a material which could solve these problems.
