Eldib Engineering & Research Inc. (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) has completed a new market study on trademarked Nomex brand paper products made from meta-aramids (poly meta-phenylene-terephthamide). Nomex paper is offered commercially by DuPont Advanced Fiber Systems (Richmond, Va.). The study discusses various types of Nomex paper and the array of industries that benefit from this product. According to the report, U.S. consumption of Nomex paper is estimated at 22 million lb (10,000 metric tonnes). Pricing factors include type of paper and thickness: Nomex sold in sheets can cost from 4.68 dollars per sheet (0.005-inch thick) to 08.73 per sheet (0.020-inch thick). Eldib researchers found that the market for Nomex paper is tight, with delivery taking three to four months. In addition to paper, Nomex is also produced in fiber and pressboard forms and serves as electrical insulation in transformers, motors and electronic equipment.
