内容简介We have developed a new modulated laser calorimetry that can suppress the convection in a levitated molten sample by superimposing a static magnetic field. We have succeeded in measuring the molar heat capacity, thermal conductivity, and hemispherical total emissivity of molten silicon over a broad temperature range. Our technique has the advantage that it is free from crucible contamination and can measure over a wide temperature range that includes super-cooling. In the near future, we would like to apply this method to other metals by improvement of the experimental apparatus and through further verification of our method. We hope that the present method will become a standard to determine the thermal properties of high temperature molten materials. We are happy to receive your opinions.
