内容简介This is my final President's Column for the Journal which means that my two years in office are rapidly approaching completion. I can honestly say that I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience, even if I didn't pick an easy time. The challenges of the Global Recession and its specific impact on our Industry and the operations of our key supply industries has certainly forced me to revise my expectations with respect to the targets I set myself two years ago. Hopefully, I have not had to make too many compromises and I would like to think that I have played a part in helping to cultivate the Institute's current training initiatives. However, I intend to continue to work with these and other projects as I take a step backwards and vacate the President's role for Peter Rooney. The Institute has certainly been through 'a bit of a trough' in many respects but in a gradual and responsible way I believe that we have started to evolve into what will be a viable and hopefully even vibrant organisation to assist and support our Industry in whatever format it will ultimately adopt in the coming years. With future Presidents like Peter and Chris Windle, I believe that we have the right people at the right time to take us forward.
