Gas permeability is in use for evaluating such properties as liquid-permeability of refractory materials, explosive spalling resistance of monolithic refractories (diffusivity of escaping water vapors from an internal body) and the others. In this study, the authors report on the development of a new testing apparatus for measurement of gas permeability of refractory materials in collaboration with the TARJ committee on standardization.
