内容简介It is possible to improve the spalling resistance of refractories with graphite additions because of its characteristically high thermal conductivity and low coefficient of thermal expansion and to improve the erosion and corrosion resistance because of its property of repelling inorganic liquids and preventing penetration of molten metal and slag. The application of hydrophobic graphite to castables using water as a fluidizing medium requires much more water in comparison to castables without graphite. This higher water content decreases the erosion and corrosion resistance of the castables because of the reduction in density and a thermal conductivity. Therefore, the surface treatment of graphite and coating the graphite surface with alumina have been investigated for obtaining hydrophilicity.
