内容简介On February 17, 2005, Chubu International Air Port (Centrea) was opened at the off-shore of Tokoname city in Aichi prefecture as the third air port on the sea in Japan. The city of Tokoname is famous for its pottery production, one of the six old kilns in Japan, and Tokoname kiln is regarded as the largest pottery center in the middle age of Japan. In February, 2006, I took a stroll in the pottery walking road, situated on a hill five minutes on foot from Tokoname railway station. In the past, they said "Sparrows were darkened due to the smoke of chimneys", owing to the active production of pottery, and "the pottery pipe slope way" paved with earthen pipes on wall and road gives a reminiscence of history to visitors. On the stroll way, there remains a bank kiln (Touei Gama) which was built in 1887 and operated until 1974, and there remains not only the kiln but also working steps and tools as they were utilized in the past. This bank kiln is one of the largest kilns in Japan, and the height of ten chimneys increases towards both ends by which a uniform firing up to the corners of kilns is made possible with use of a strong draft, indicating a high level of technology of designers.
