内容简介

The changes in fracture properties of castable materials that combined various matrices and aggregates were investigated in an attempt to generalize the principals the suppression of crack extension. 1) The evaluation of fracture extension was done by measuring the load release rate after the maximum load point in a three point bend test. 2) In cases where there was a large difference between the linear thermal expansion coefficient of the aggregate and matrix, the load release rate was low and indicating a low rate of crack progression. 3) It is possible to consider that the reason for the difference in fracture properties is because fine cracks are generated at the interface between the aggregate and the matrix due to the difference of their thermal expansion coefficients. Furthermore, such phenomena as stress dispersion and crack deflection brought about the various effects observed on the crack behavior. It was clarified that the fracture properties were greatly improved through modification of the aggregate and matrix material combinations. The authors think that this knowledge can be utilized effectively in material design and can be expanded to other material systems and aggregates to develop systematic countermeasures for cracking and peeling damage in castable refractories.
