内容简介Many research papers have been written on alumina cement as a material for civil engineering, because it was developed for public and civil engineering. At present, it is widely used in the field of civil engineering in Europe and the US, but it is mainly consumed as a heat-resistant and refractory material in Japan, excepting a repairing materials and an accelerating agent though. Many kinds of alumina cement are manufactured to satisfy a wide variety of uses, both as a heat-resistant and a construction material. The physical properties of alumina cement have been improved by studying/understanding the behavior of impurities such as silica, and the alumina content, but the chemical composition and crystal structure have been little investigated. Compounds formed by heating calcium aluminate show various crystal morphologies with amorphism, and each crystalline compound has different hydration behavior, therefore, hydrates of alumina cement exhibit complicated changes under various conditions. Recently, calcium aluminates have been investigated as a heat-resistant catalyst, and also, revolutionary research which is counter to common sense, to make nano-porous crystals of C12A7 which have the property of electronic conduction and oxygen ion conduction. The future of alumina cement, comprised of alumina as the main component, includes many opportunities for R&D.
