内容简介When a deteriorated refractory wall is removed for repair in various plants, the first work is removal of the refractory by chipping. A machine such as a power shovel is used for chipping refractory walls in huge installations. An automated machine, made by modifying a solid pick mining machine of the type used for excavating bed rock, already has been adapted for removing deteriorated refractory layers in the iron and steel making industries. In the case where automated refractory removing equipment cannot be used, the hand chipping method is adopted. Workers beat a refractory wall with breakers, coal picks or chipping hammers to remove it. This method is applied even to the refractory lining on steam boiler tubes that must never be damaged during chipping. However, it often happens that a worker, even if he pays close attention, makes the mistake of hitting the tip of tool on a tube to make a hole or dent necessitating a tube replacement. We are then seeking a method to solve this problem.
