The evaluation of the corrosion resistance of MgO-C bricks, and clarification of the test conditions, were discussed in this paper. Various studies, using several methods, have been conducted so far, and new findings have been obtained recently. Consequently, it is considered that improved corrosion testing is within the range of possibility. However, still more improvement of the test methods and the establishment of test conditions that reproduce the actual wear mechanisms in field service, are needed.
