内容简介Several on thermal stress calculations have been carried out in the past to elucidate the origin of cracks generated in slide gate valve (SV) plates. Investigations on causes and countermeasures have been discussed as well. In our company, based on calculations and performance results in field tests, a reformed shape which constrains the area near and around the hole has been developed by changing the constrained taper angle in the SV plate~(1)). As a result, crack generation has decreased and stabilized SV plate performance has been established. This result is attributed to a change in the crack direction relative to the sliding direction from parallel to oblique. However, sometimes a parallel crack does appear. This is ascribed to a fact that the conventional calculation was limited to a qualitative method. Therefore, in the present study, with the purpose of increasing the durability of SV plate bricks, the following investigation has been made to determine the constrain conditions necessary for crack-free operation: (1) Quantitative elucidation of crack generation, (2) Constraining conditions for SV plates.
