内容简介SiC refractories have been used for incinerators and waste melting furnaces because of their desirable characteristics such as high thermal conductivity and resistance to adhesion by dust or slag, etc. However, different brands of SiC raw materials used for castables sometimes exhibit differences in the flowability at the time of mixing or in the properties of the formed body.In this study, the effects of SiC raw material brands on characteristics of castables were investigated.Sample (a) needed much water to exhibit good flowability because the shape of SiC (A) grain was acicular, resulting in the segregation at the time of vibration forming. On the other hand, sample (c) exhibited flowability with less water because the shape of SiC C grain was spherical, resulting in a dense formed body. The shape of SiC raw materials for castables is better to be spherical than acicular.
