内容简介Slit-type submerged entry nozzles, with a porous material (also called as slit material) plated in the inner wall, for blowing inert gas, are frequently used to prevent the nozzle blockage and accelerate the floating of inclusions. When fused silica is added for the slit material, a significant change of permeability has sometimes been observed ~(1,2).) In this work, the mechanism(s) of the permeability change was studied, by evaluating the effect of fused silica on the permeability characteristics of the slit materials, in the laboratory. The permeability of slit-type submerged entry nozzles in field use showed a significant improvement over conventional products, based on the implementation of measures that were determined in the study of the deterioration mechanism(s).
