内容简介The stepwise heating method was used to measure the thermal conductivity of MgO-C bricks. The thermal conductivity of the bricks was also measured by the steady state method to compare with the stepwise heating method. The thermal conductivity of MgO-c bricks containing 20 percent and 7 percent graphite measured by the stepwise method corresponded to that measured by the steady state method. The thermal conductivity of MgO-C bricks containing 20 percent graphite was measured in directions parallel and perpendicular to the oriented plane of the flaky graphite. The thermal conductivity in the parallel direction was 1.3 to 1.5 times larger than that in the perpendicular direction at all temperatures. The stepwise heating method clarified the influence of the graphite orientation on the thermal conductivity. In the measurement of the thermal conductivity of MgO-C bricks, therefore, the stepwise heating method was considered to be more useful than the hot wire method. The stepwise heating method enabled measurement of the thermal conductivity of MgO-C bricks up to about 1100 K.
