内容简介Recently, the castables used in the sidewall of ladles have changed; alumina-spinel types were used in the past, but alumina-magnesia types are more commonly used now. The change has occurred because alumina-magnesia castables have better resistance to corrosion and slag penetration than aluminaspinel castables, due to the formation of spinel of fine particle size in the matrix by the reaction of alumina and magnesia.Knowing the beneficial effect of fine spinel, improvement of the corrosion and slag penetration resistance of an aluminaspinel castable was studied in this work, by adding ultrafine spinel and sized spinel aggregate to the composition.
