内容简介One method of increasing the durability of an alumina spinel castable, used in steel refining vessels and other applications, is to improve the chemical resistance against iron oxide. In this study, the effect of such factors as the spinel particle size and the material structure, on the chemical resistance to iron oxide penetration, was investigated.In this study of the resistance of alumina-spinel castables to iron oxide penetration, the use of fused spinel of fine grain size, and densification of the material structure, were found to greatly reduce the iron oxide penetration. Thus it would be expected that the improved alumina-spinel castable would have increased durability in field service. In the densification of the material structure, it is important to pay attention to the drying process.
