内容简介

We focused on the homogeneity of materials as a key factor to reduce variability in the service lives of castables. The relationships among the fluidity of a castable's powder portion, the fluidity of the castable, and the homogeneity of the castable were investigated to develop homogeneous castables. Yield stress (Y) and plastic viscosity (eta) of the powder portions of castables and aggregate migration distance (R) and migration time (T) of the castables as a whole were measured and used to calculate the ratios eta/Y and R/T, which were defined as fluidity indexes. When plotted as functions of water addition, eta/Y and R/T showed maxima. Across the maximum point of eta/Y, a castable's powder portion changed its suspension state from flocculation to deflocculation and vice versa. The addition of a thickening agent or fumed silica increased both yield stress and plastic viscosity. It also increased eta/Y, which indicated that plastic viscosity increased more than yield stress. Fluidity indexes R/T and eta/Y were found to be correlated, which indicated that the fluidity of castables and that of their powder portions were correlated.
