It was shown that a mixture of alumina and magnesia in the ratio of 82 and 6 by weight respectively created spinel in the area around the fine particles during the continuous casting operation and this material had corrosion resistance superior to that of alumina-graphite material. Furthermore, it was clarified from thermal analysis by FEM, that, because the thermal conductivity of material B was very low, it had the same insulating effect as the refractories included a slit about I nun or so of length in the body.
