内容简介Moisture measurement with a neutron moisture analyzer has the following advantages and disadvantages: Advantages (1) It permits nondestructive measurement of objects inside metal containers and piping. (2) It permits measurement of average moisture inside an object within a certain range of measurement. (3) It permits measurement over a wide range of moisture levels from low moisture to high moisture. (4) Output values (count values) are not affected by the color or temperature of the object of measurement. Disadvantages (1) To determine moisture values, a calibration curve needs to be created from both moisture values measured by a drying method and output values (count values) given by the neutron moisture analyzer. (This applies to other moisture analyzers based on different principles.) (2) Output values (count values) are influenced by not only the moisture of the object but also its volume, density, and distance from the analyzer. (Keeping constant the volume, density, and distance of the object of measurement allows accurate moisture measurement.) (3) Moisture distribution within an object of measurement cannot he measured. Those characteristics (advantages and the disadvantages) of the neutron moisture analyzer described above and the results of the two experiments presented in this paper ascertain that the neutron moisture analyzer can be satisfactorily used to measure moisture in castables by properly designing the measurement methods.
