内容简介Increasing concern about environmental load and the issue of suppressing carbon dissolution into molten steel in recent years have made it desirable to reduce carbon contents in carbon-containing refractories. According to our study on MgO-C brick, the mechanism that controls the wear on the hot face varies with slag properties and the carbon content of the brick (Fig. 1).~(1)) Against this background, the authors made a study on the wear of MgO-C brick in a low carbon region, where the wear is hardly influenced by slag properties, and developed a carbon-bonded magnesia brick with improved matrix. The present report presents comparison between the new carbon-bonded magnesia brick and a conventional magnesia-carbon brick for general purpose.
