内容简介Regarding the practice of adding zirconia-containing aggregates to refractories to improve their thermal shock resistance, we ascertained that alumina-zirconia grains of different microstructures had different effects on the improvement of thermal shock resistance. Two kinds of alumina-zirconia grains were investigated. Those with friable microstructures had little effect in improving the thermal shock resistance of refractories. On the other hand, those with mosaic structures in which fine primary crystals of alumina were dispersed in an alumina-zirconia eutectic resisted breakage and improved the thermal shock resistance of refractories containing such grains.
