内容简介The investigation on a SEN using a water simulation model showed that the flow velocity in the SEN and at the SEN outlet was influenced by casting conditions such as a throughput, the inner diameter and the presence of annular steps. In the case of the SEN having a large inner diameter, the negative flow into the SEN is generated, and the flow becomes stronger as the throughput is raised. The negative flow is considered to be one of causes of stagnation in a SEN and the catching mold powder into the molten steel. The negative flow can be prevented by attaching annular steps in the SEN. In the case of a SEN having a small inner diameter, the flow velocity at the outlet increased as the inner diameter is reduced. The annular steps make the maximum flow velocity at the outlet more uniform. At present, a SEN with annular steps gives a distinct effect to prevent alumina deposition, but further modification is necessary to stabilize the operation state and improve the steel quality. We have a schedule to investigate the optimum SEN design using the water model simulation.
