内容简介To improve the dispersion of metal fibers in castable refractory bodies, an evaluation of the segregation was carried out using fractal dimension analysis. As a result of the investigation of variables such as the vibration time, vibration strength and the method of pre-mixing, a modified manufacturing procedure was developed. Based upon these conditions, a new process-specification was drawn up, and, as a result, problems of rejected pre-cast products caused by fiber segregation was eliminated. In this experiment, the method of fractal dimension analysis was introduced to provide information on the manufacturing conditions of refractories. It seems possible that this method may also be applied to the evaluation of a variety of refractory characteristics such as the degree of crack extension, the degree of coarse agglomerate subsidence and the degree of grain segregation.
