Because of the strict regulation of industrials wastes now, the disposal of CF from various kinds of industrial furnaces has become a serious problem. To cope with such problems, a repair method has been developed to prolong the furnace life without demolishing/removing the CF block in the existing linings. Based on the following improvements, a wet gunning method for installing CF-containing insulating materials, with no dust generation, has been developed:① By adding water to the material transported in the hose at two locations, the working conditions have been improved (no dust generation).② A support stud has been developed for easier installation, and the durability of the installed linings has been improved by using this stud.The use of this method, which does not require the demolition of the existing lining and prolongs the lining life, minimizes the disposal problems for CF waste. Hereafter, it is planned to develop more lightweight materials containing CF for gunning, to improve the insulating properties and prevent material from falling-off during service, for increased lining durability.
