内容简介In the conventional evaluation test for float bath bottom brick, brick quality is judged good or bad according to whether the alkali reaction and penetration layers are thin or thick. We devised a new test which could condition the specimen of a brick material such that we could tell if cracks would form when the brick was used in a production furnace. It was confirmed that the test allows us to evaluate flaking susceptibility of float bath bottom brick more clearly. We also found that a material whose layer of reaction with alkali deformed easily under stress was less susceptible to flaking, which guided our material improvement effort in a right direction. A new bottom brick of ours that was developed according to the new test and findings proved to be less susceptible to flaking.
