内容简介We studied alumina-spinel castables containing spinel fine powder to improve their characteristics that are based on the structural stability of alumina-spinel castables and the corrosion and slag penetration resistance of alumina-magnesia castables. Our findings are as follows:(1) Occasional spalling damage to steel ladles in the field was found to be caused by the excessive sintering of the alumina-spinel castable containing spinel fine powder, which results in a reduction in the thermal spalling resistance.(2) Suppression of excessive sintering by integrating an alumina cement of coarser particles into the matrix was effective at suppressing increases in the modulus of rupture and modulus of elasticity and preventing the thermal spalling resistance from declining.(3) These findings resulted in an improvement on the conventional alumina-spinel castable containing spinel fine powder. The improved castable was superior to the conventional one in thermal spalling resistance, corrosion resistance, and slag penetration resistance.
