The Wassmer Group is a leading manufacturer of machining systems and equipment for the ceramic industry. Founded in 1978, the company has decades of experience in manufacturing equipment for machining structural ceramics and refractory materials for the glass and steel industry. Wassmer produces all systems required for carbon cathode, electrode and nipple machining as well as equipment for the machining of unfired SiC, honeycomb and foam ceramics. The machining of these materials requires very particular technology. The Wassmer Group has specialised in this grinding, cutting, separation and machining technology and supplies systems and equipment for a wide range of ceramic applications. The machines are tailored to the relevant product being machined and achieve market-leading tolerances worldwide. The sales markets for construction material machining systems are still predominantly found within the borders of the EU, while machinery for refractory materials, graphite and carbon are exported to a similar degree to Asia, South and Central America as well as Russia. Companies in the USA have also improved their competitiveness by the purchase of Wassmer machinery. In recent years economic fluctuations have had very short-term impacts on the demand. Demand for materials such as steel or glass on the global market are reflected comparatively rapidly in the industry-specific sales figures of the Wassmer Group.
