内容简介The biggest customer for the refractory industry is the steel industry. More than 75% of refractory consumption in Japan is for this user segment. The biggest feature in Japan is the relationship of mutual cooperation between steelmaking customers and refractory makers. In response to a variety of steelmaking customer's needs, the refractory industry has continued to always strive to provide stable and high quality refractory products to meet the criteria used in steelmaking customers. Because of the above reason, the steelmaking customers are able to produce high-performance steel products under their stable operation. In order to satisfy the steelmaking customer's requirements, refractory makers have been energetically promoting the development of refractories. A recent representative example of the development achievements is applied nanotechnology for refractory products. This nanotechnology application has realized to reduce the carbon amount in refractories used for steel refining furnaces, and has reduced heat dissipation from the steel shell of furnaces. This contributes to environmental improvements such as reduction of heat loss or CO2 emission. The refractory industry is improving the environment in their production plants, of course, and is also contributing to improving the environment of steel industry in view of CO2 emission or 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle).
