内容简介The 6th International Symposium on Refractories jointly organized by the Chinese Ceramic Society and the Chinese Society for Metals'\s a continuation of the previous symposiums. The first one was held in November 1988 in Hangzhou, followed by the events in October/November 1992 in Beijing, November 1998 again in Beijing, March 2003 in Dalian and May 2007 once more in Beijing. The symposium in 2012 was held at Kaifu Jianguo Hotel, Zhengzhou/CN. This city is the capital of the "refractory" Henan province. It is known that in this province, with more than 1000 refractory plants and 250 000 employees, more than 50 % of China's refractories were produced in 2010. One of the strategic directions of the world economy development is the transition to a tow carbon economy. It aims to solve global challenges of diminishing fossil fuel reserves, climate change, environmental management and finite natural resources. According to the organizers of the symposium refractory technologies and products will be able to play bigger roles in helping refractory consuming industries in meeting the needs of the low carbon economic development. That's why the theme of this symposium was - Refractories Serving Low Carbon Economy. China, as the biggest refractories producer and consumer, is making efforts to promote consolidation, structural optimization and implementing "green refractory" strategies in this sector. The main purpose of the 6th International Symposium on Refractories was to provide a good opportunity for researchers, manufacturers, suppliers and users around the world to review the progress and achievements made in recent years, to assess new developments in research, production and application to meet new challenges, to inspire new ideas and to promote further international exchange and cooperation. The symposium was attended by more than 300 participants, among them about 45 attendees from Austria, Australia, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, India, Iran, Japan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Norway, Singapore, GB, Ukraine, USA and Vietnam.
