This paper describes the application of carbon composite bricks in the hearth of 2# BF (410 m3 of Shanxi Tongcai 1&S Co. and 2# BF (410 m3) of Shanxi Jiangbang Group. It is considered that adopting carbon composite bricks breaks with the tradition of adopting carbon bricks in the furnace hearth. Over three years of service proves that this carbon composite bricks, not only possess all the advantages of carbon bricks and traditional ceramic cups, but also overcome the disadvantages of both, can avoid the phenomena such as elephant-foot like erosion in the hearth, rising up of the tuyere and cracks on the shell, etc.,
