内容简介The main function of refractory insulation materials is to minimize the heat loss in high temperature applications. Besides microporous insulating boards calcium silicates have become an essential part of high energy-efficient furnace linings. The highly improved calcium silicates feature a special assembly of microcrystal round hollow shapes, a high temperature resistant crystal matrix and additives to eliminate heat transfer by radiation. In technical scale the process is realised in slurry reactor autoclaves using pure raw materials to create mainly xonotlite crystals and an effective opacifier. The related thermal conductivity at 800 °C measured using the hot wire method is 0,10 W/m-K, which is a level close to super insulating microporous boards.
