The refractory industry is a very important consumer of magnesia in several different forms, and accounts for over 65 % of total magnesia use. Over the last ten years the supply landscape has changed, as an increase in Chinese domestic demand has reduced magnesia exports. This has encouraged producers elsewhere to re-evaluate deposits and investigate capacity expansions.
