内容简介In order to improve the resistance against corrosion and structural spalling of a castable for tundish lining, we studied the effect of matrix enhancement. Our findings are summarized as follows: (1) As the alumina content in the matrix of the castable increased, the corrosion resistance of the slag line improved, but penetration depth in the metal zone increased. (2) Correlation was found between penetration depths in the metal zone and the pore sizes of test castables measured after they had been heated for 3 hrs at 1500 deg C. The pore size increased as the alumina content in the matrix increased. (3) In formulating a new castable of improved properties, we attempted to increase its corrosion resistance by increasing the alumina content of the matrix. We also attempted to reduce its pore size to suppress penetration in the metal zone and therefore reduce wear caused by structural spalling. Those measures proved effective in a field test.
