In this paper, we described the current use of chrome-free bricks in cement kilos in the USA. We also reported the development of a new dolomite-based chrome-free brick called MCZ. As a matter of fact, the development and field performance of MCZ brick have been reported since several years ago, and its improvement in performance on existing dolomite-based bricks is well known. Our D, DZ, and DMZ bricks have been generally accepted by cement manufacturers overseas. Our plan is to re-examine their applicability to the cement kilo operational conditions in Japan and find ways to select among our products including the new MCZ brick most appropriate products for individual plants' needs. With our chrome-free bricks, we would like to contribute to the effort of the Japanese cement industry for environmental protection.
