内容简介Slag penetration into magnesia refractory bricks was studied at 1550 deg C by the crucible penetration test using slags with two different chemical compositions. The microstructure of slag penetrated magnesia refractory bricks was also inrestigated. In the penetration of calcium aluminosilicate slag without MgO, MgO grains in the refractory reacted with the slag, resulting in the formation of spinel at the interface between the slag and MgO grains. On the other hand, penetration of calcium aluminosilicate slag supersaturated with spinel caused heterogeneous nucleation, resulting in the formation of spinel on the MgO grains. It has been shown that these different reactions between MgO and slags greatly influence the slag penetration behavior.
