内容简介Refractories, carbon, etc., containing carbonaceous materials such as binders or carbon aggregates are generally burnt under reducing atmosphere. In the course of burning. part of the carbonaceous materials is volatilized esulting in porous products. Therefore, it is a usual practice to impregnate the products with coal-tar pitch or resin in order to prolong the service life. In recent years. some products are densified through close packing of raw materials and this prevents impregnating materials from infiltrating into the pores~(1)). In a previous report ~(2)), we presented a paper concerning the impregnation of thermo setting resin into a slide-gate plate ( hereafter called SG-P ) by means of a cold isostatic press ( hereafter called CIP).However, this SG-P product was restricted to have comparatively small pores with an average diameter less than 0.1 mu m. Furthermore, the thermosetting resin was limited only to one kind. In the present report, the carbon sample was selected as to have a similar apparent porosity and pore size properties as the previous material, and four kinds of thermosetting resin were used fur impregnation.
